Woman

With the new year approaching, I can't help but reminisce about how good this year has been to me and how being 24 has honestly been the best time of my life so far...I didn't achieve some things I set out to, like signing up for that break dance class and losing a whole stone, but I managed to keep track of my studies and my finances (even though it was so difficult resisting those fierce heels).  But I've done it :) and only hope to keep growing positively and stay humble and grounded as a woman in this sometimes chaotic city.
A couple of days ago, I came across this poem of 'Frida Khalo to Marty McConnell' and it inspired me beyond my wildest dreams.  Here it is, hoping it inspires you as much as it did for me...

Leaving is not enough; you must
stay gone. train your heart
like a dog. change the locks
even on the house he’s never
visited. you lucky, lucky girl.
you have an apartment
just your size. a bathtub
full of tea. a heart the size
of Arizona, but not nearly
so arid. don’t wish away
your cracked past, your
crooked toes, your problems
are papier mache puppets
you made or bought because the vendor
at the market was so compelling you just
had to have them. you had to have him.
and you did. and now you pull down
the bridge between your houses,
you make him call before
he visits, you take a lover
for granted, you take
a lover who looks at you
like maybe you are magic. make
the first bottle you consume
in this place a relic. place it
on whatever altar you fashion
with a knife and five cranberries.
don’t lose too much weight.
stupid girls are always trying
to disappear as revenge. and you
are not stupid. you loved a man
with more hands than a parade
of beggars, and here you stand. heart
like a four-poster bed. heart like a canvas.
heart leaking something so strong
they can smell it in the street.

JFK

I stumbled upon this email that Proud Camden dropped in my inbox.  Surprisingly, this one was not about finding a horse's tail and getting free drinks for the rest of Thursday night.  Oh no, but on a sweet note, it was the photos of the late President JFK and his family.
Just how adorable is this one! melts my heart...

I couldn't access all the photos but here is the link to the vintage photo timeline, from Proud Camden to me, and from me to you.

Night dreams

...

My day attire from Friday, while the photos were taken at 'night time' thanks to the daylight saving.

Bizarrely feels like blurry night dreams...

Status

I feel like I've fallen off the track.  Tho I feel like I have tried, it just wasn't enough.  The bullets of excuses were deadly and I lost.  I am bitter, angry, hurt.  I feel stupid, thinking about how idiotic and embarrassing to have let myself down.
Anyways, I'm not going to dwell and sit on my tush feeling sorry for myself, what good would that bring me? (Ok, maybe for only a few days or weeks...) so I'll just try a tad bit harder next time.
Also on the other hand, I've neglected Labelloola, but I assure (myself) I'll come back slightly more confident and less bitter, in due time.
'Til then

LFW

First time for everything and this was my first time at the London Fashion Week at The Somerset House (Oh yes, and I've been living in London in nearly 5 years now *big oops!*) It was new, fun and of course fashionable at every angle of the eyes.  No fashion week would be completed without a *miaww* catwalk runway, and here we watched the designs of Holly Fulton's collection strut down the runway carrying the aesthetic of her theme, 'A Groupie who finally gets her Rock N Roll stud'.

*Start playing Bon Jovi - Livin' On A Prayer*

And then we ended our night with dashes of wine and sing-alongs at Mcd's. Ohhh...  :)

Notting Hill Carnival 2013

This year's carnival was a ball.  We danced with the over flooded crowd, sang to the tunes and saw birds twerk better than Miley Cyrus.  From completely butt naked random guys bustling in the crowd to Marge Simpson look-a-like china dolls, the carnival had it all and it lived nothing short of its reputation.
